Change in evening trading hours

WITH EFFECT FROM 10 MAR 2014
Change in evening trading hours is followed twice a year on commodities exchanges in India (MCX and NCDEX). This change in evening trading hours is made to adjust the timing of trading hours with USA (United States of America) day light savings. Every Year in the month of November Trading hours are extended from 23:30 Hrs to 23:55 Hrs. In the month of March the trading hours on MCX and NCDEX are reduced from 23:55 Hrs to 23:30 Hrs.Please referMCX Circular No MCX/T&S/054/2014 dated 26 Feb 2014 and NCDEX Circular NCDEX/TRADING-020/2014/048 dated 28 Feb 2014.

change in evening trading hours is changed for trading in MCX and NCDEX only for Non – Agri commodities like crude oil, copper, zinc, Natural gas etc., For all agri commodities traded trading will close at 1700 Hrs through out the year irrespective of day light savings time in USA and other countries. This is to provide uniform trading timings coupled with global trading exchanges.

MCX has not notified up to which period these timings are effective. NCDEX notified that these timings are valid till 02 Nov 2014, Sunday. usually, change in evening trading hours in both MCX and NCDEX takes place at the same day. It can be expected that MCX timings are also upto 02 Nov 2014. Both exchanges notify about the changes in october for change of timings (Extending from 11:30 PM to 11:55 PM). Same will be notified by brokers to respective clients. There will not be any change in the opening time of the exchanges due to change in evening trading hours. Both MCX and NCDEX open for trading at 10:00 IST for trading in both Agri Commodities and Non – Agri Commodities.
