Income Tax Returns Filing Due Date Extension – 05 Aug 2017 For AY

Income tax returns filing due date extension for ay 17-18 extensionIncome Tax Returns filing due date has been extended to 05 Aug 2017 for Assessment Year 2017-18. Till today morning IT department was denying of possibility of any extension for due date. Since Saturday afternoon, incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in website is not functioning properly with frequent maintenance breaks and time outs.  There are many types of error displayed including server busy, session time out etc.,

This year to due the requirement of linking pan and aadhar most people could not complete filing returns.  There are many mismatches in name, date of birth etc in aadhar and pan data base. If you have not linked your pan and aadhar, check how to link aadhar with pan

Not yet linked ? No worry. You can still file your income tax return WITHOUT linking your aadhar card and pan card details.  All you need to do while filing return is quote your AADHAR Number or acknowledgement Number (If recently applied for aadhar and not yet received 12 digit number).  You can link them on or before 31 August 2017.  Please note that returns will not be processed till the time you link them. A great relief for many tax payers who are struggling to link them due to mismatch 🙂

More over tax payers have to compile data related to cash deposits during demonetisation period to file returns.  Some people have not filed returns till the last date (today) as most of CAs are busy implementing GST provisions for their clients.  This made the availability of Chartered Accountants scarce for filing returns.

Continuous denial of income tax returns filing due date extension  by Top IT department personnel created further panic as the website was not functioning properly since last 3 days.  There were many break downs and sudden session out messages.

Anyhow, with the extension of due date for filing Income Tax returns for the Assessment Year 2017-18 one can file returns upto 5 Aug 2017 to be deemed to filed returns in time.

Income Tax department and CBDT has to ensure that their e-filing website is up and running in the next 5 days so that most tax payers can file their returns in time without much hassle.

File your income tax returns before 5 Aug 2017 at the income tax india e-filing website.
